Swimming

Madilyn and I took our first "Shrimp and Kippers" class on Saturday. She did really well. The pool was incredibly warm, it felt like a bath. Madilyn was so cute in her red, white and blue swimsuit - YUP the forth of July baby was wearing a red, white and blue swim suit. She loved the water and was splashing around and floating. She didn't like the first time she went under water but she got used to it. We sang some songs and had some free time with a toy. It was nice to see other mommies with babies. The hardest part was after....trying to change me, and madilyn while we were both sopping wet and no real clean / safe place in a locker room to change a baby and leave her for a second while I change and collect our things. I needed another set of arms. I know that was an issure for a few other mommies and daddies as well.
Madilyn was tuckered out and slept on the way home.
All and all, we had a fantastic time. I will pack a bit differently next time - plan my work and work my plan :-) I will try and get some pictures this weekend.

Tag.....I'm It

Well, I have been "tagged" (Thanks Rachel), which means that I have to take the book that is closest to me, open to page 123, find the 5th sentence and then post the net 3 sentences. Then I have to tag 5 people who will need to do that same. I chose a book that Rach gave to me for my birthday - two months ago....yep it had taken me 2 months to read 55 pages. But in keeping with the spirit of blog tag, I will fast forward to page 123. This book is called Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It is an autobiographical tale of a woman's post-divorace journey to Italy, India and Indonesea in a search for herself, for life after lost love, mental clarity and spritiural inspiration.

I added a 4th sentence, but i felt it help complete the thought Elizabeth was trying to reach. I find the humour in this book entertaining and the journey truthful and thought provoking.

Madi is starting to get movin'. OUr lives are about to change once she get mobile. However, I love to watch her discover things and abilites. I love to watch her grow. For anyone wondering what the voice is inthe background - we were watching Antiques Road Show (Don't ask why!!)

Weekend Pics

Jason took Madilyn for a run. He bundled her all up. She loves walks and runs.
Jason took this picture. He absolutley loves Madi's face here. Her expressions and moods are more pronouced now and she is quite the little entertainer.
This is my favorite picture. It is amazing to me how similar these two are in this picture. Ears, eyes...These two are my whole world.

Dr Follow up

Well, Madi's ears are not better. She is on another round of antibiotics & acid blockers. The acid blocker does NOT taste good at all!!!! She will go back in in 10 days to see how this works. If it doesn't then she will go to an ENT (ear, nose & Throat). The ENT will decide if she needs tubes.
In conjunction with Madilyn's medicine Jason and I are taking a slighting holistic approach and took Madilyn to the Chiropractor. He adjusted her in 4 places. Don't worry he didn't "crack" her or twist her up like a little pretzal. He has a little compression device that Madi thought was a toy. He used that on head where her jaw and skull meet. He said she was out of alignment there and that could be partly the reason her ears won't drain. He also adjusted her back in 3 places. Two of those he used the tool on the third he just held her out, put his finger in a spot on her spine and bounced her about 1 inch - and he felt a little pop. It didn't hurt Madi at all. She will go back twice a week for up to 3 weeks and hopefully that with the medicine will help my little muchkin. The craxy thing is the place on he back she was out of alignment is just above where the nerves fromthe brain come down and go to the stomach. Her tummy could be getting wierd signals from her brain and that could be why she has the acid reflux. I was thouroughly impressed. I hope one of these two things works.

Dr Appointment

Today Madilyn has her follow up appointment to check on her ears and her acid reflux. We will see how it goes. She had a rough night the other night so I went ahead and made an appointment for her to see a pediatric chiropractor. I have heard some great things and ailments that can be fixed with a small adjustment. Maybe it will stop her acid reflux and help her sleep through the night. I will post again and let everyone know how she is. Thanks for you thoughts

Madi is feeling better tonight. Isn't she so dang cute. After she ate is let her have her bowl and spoons. Look at the mess she made. Who Cares!!!!! she has fun

Madi's ears

Okay, well many of you know that Madilyn has had come acid reflux and ear problems. Well this weekend...Madilyn had a high fever and she would squeal and cry . We took her to the Dr on Monday, luckly she already had an appointment to have her ears checked. He looked at them and said...YIKES. She has an ear infection in both ears, but he believes them to be caused by acid reflux. It swells the whole area and her ears can't drain. She was on antibiotics in January for her ears. He thinks that the medicine wasn't strong enough to completely get rid of it last time. That mixed with the acid reflux and what made this flare up bad. Poor kid couldn't sleep. I just held her upright all night long and comforted her and rocked her. Now she is on high dose amoxicillian. She will go back in 10 days. If her ears are still icky they will run a few more tests and put her on acid blockers once more. If that doesn't work then she will have tubes put in. Poor little Madi!!!! One the bright side...Jason's schedule for work has been awesome. He stayed home with her yesterday and today because he was already off. So I didn't have to miss any work. I am a bit tired though. I haven't slept a whole night through since I was about 8 months pregnant, plus Sunday night I had about 3 hours of off and on sleep while holding Madi and about 5 hour off and on last night with her. But the crazy thing is that.....Sunday night and last night when I was up with her...i was not even tired. It is like everypart of me wanted to make sure Madilyn didn't hurt and my sole purpose in life was to comfort her. it is amazing how being a mom can change you and suprise oneself at the things we are biologically, spiritually and emotionally capable. I thank God for such devine craftmanshop.

Weekend with grandma and grandpa

This weekend, Grandma and Grandpa drove all the way from Walla Walla just to see me! Was very excited....until the brought out this giant beast..aaahhhhh!!! After I got to sit on it and check out the giant beast for a little while, I finally got used to it and now I love to play all over it!


Before grandma and grandpa left, I got to go outside and check out all the snow in my new snow suit. I still don't like to wear the crazy hats that mom got for me, so dad made me put on this silly hood!

After they grandma and grandpa went home, Mom and Dad took me to the mall and got me these cool new shades.

Personally, I like the Elvis glasses the best. Who knows, maybe one day I can have a shot in showbiz (don't I already do a great impression of the King).
